The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme is an initiative by the University Grants Commission (UGC) aimed at promoting higher education among students from the North Eastern Region (NER) of India. This scheme specifically supports students from economically weaker backgrounds in the region.
Each year, 10,000 new scholarships are awarded to eligible NER students enrolled in general degree programs, as well as technical, professional, medical, and paramedical courses.

Eligibility criteria
Type of Educational Institutions:
#The Ishan Uday Scholarship is applicable for undergraduate studies in the following types of recognized institutions:
#Universities, colleges, and institutes covered under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, with valid NAAC accreditation
#Deemed-to-be universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, also with valid NAAC accreditation
#Institutes of National Importance
#Institutions recognized by other statutory councils, both within and outside the North Eastern Region
Eligibility – Class/Admission Criteria:
#Only students who have secured admission in the first year of an undergraduate degree program in a recognized university, college, or institution within India are eligible to apply.
#Applicants must be enrolled in the UG program during the current academic year (e.g., students admitted in 2020–21 are eligible only for the 2020–21 selection).
#Students who already hold a degree are not eligible for this scholarship.
Type of Course:
For students enrolled in integrated or dual degree programs, the scholarship will be awarded only for the undergraduate (UG) component of the course.
Mode of Course:
The scholarship is applicable only to students enrolled in regular/full-time undergraduate degree programs.
Students pursuing UG courses through open, distance, correspondence, private, or part-time modes are not eligible to apply.
Family Income Criteria:
The annual income of the student’s parents should not exceed ₹4.5 lakh to be eligible for the scholarship.
Domicile Requirement:
Applicants must possess a valid domicile certificate from any of the North Eastern Region (NER) states.

3. A new registration page will open.
4. Fill in the required details and complete your registration.
5. After successful registration, go to the Online Application Form and log in using your credentials.
6. Fill in the application form and upload all required documents.
7. Review your details, then click on Submit and take a printout of the submitted application for future reference.
