The National Examinations Board (NTA) has issued the official notification for eligibility and admission to PhD for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in NTA UGC Net June 2025. Interested and eligible candidates can be apply online for this Posts.
UGC-NET is an examination for 'Junior Research Fellowship awards and appointment as Assistant Professors and admission to PhD in Indian Universities and Colleges' of Indian citizens.

Age limit:
"Should not be more than 30 years of age on the 1st of the month in which the examination ends, ie.
OBC-NCL candidates (As per Central List of OBCs available on the website: (www.ncbc.nic.in) /SC/ST/PWD/Gender Class III and Female applicants will be given relaxation up to 5 years.
Assistant Professors: There is no age limit for applying for UGC-NET for Assistant Professors.
PhD Admission: There is no age limit for applying for UGC-NET for PhD admission.
Educational
Qualifications:
✅General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates with at least 55% marks in Masters Degree or equivalent examination from a UGC recognized University/Institution (available on website: www.ugc.ac.in in Humanities and Social Science (including language), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this exam List is attached as Annexure -III Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PWD)/Third Sex Category Candidates who have obtained at least 50% marks in Post Graduate Degree or equivalent Examination are eligible for this Examination.
✅Candidates who are pursuing their Masters Degree or equivalent courses or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Masters Degree (Final Year) Examination and whose results are still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been deferred can also apply for this examination.
✅Candidates must have a minimum of 75% marks in the total number of passes in the 4-year/8-semester Bachelor's Degree Program or an equivalent grade on a one-point scale if the grading system is followed.
✅Candidates who qualify in NET drawing on a four-year undergraduate degree will be eligible for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awards and admission to Ph.D. Candidates qualified in NET on the basis of four-year graduation degree will not be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professors.
✅Candidates who are doing a four-year/8-semester undergraduate degree program and are in their final semester/year can also apply for the exam. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and will be considered eligible for admission to the JRF Award/Ph.D. Only after fulfilling the requirements in the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of PhD) Regulations, 2022 within two years (if eligible for JRF award)/one year (if eligible for PhD award only) from the date of declaration of net results, otherwise they will be considered ineligible.
✅Candidates having a four-year Bachelor's degree program are allowed to appear in one subject (the list of subjects and their code for UGC - NET is given in the Dec 2024 Government Notification) in which they wish to pursue PhD irrespective of the discipline in which they obtained a four-year Bachelor's degree.
