UPSC Geo-Scientist Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The applicant must satisfy the nationality requirements prescribed by UPSC. Indian citizens are eligible to apply. Certain candidates belonging to Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugee and specified Persons of Indian Origin categories may also be eligible, subject to the conditions mentioned in the official notification.

Age Limit

As on 01 January 2027, candidates must meet the following age requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 32 Years
  • Candidates must have been born between 02 January 1995 and 01 January 2006.

Age Relaxation

Upper age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules. Major relaxations include:

  • SC/ST: Up to 5 years
  • OBC: Up to 3 years
  • Eligible Defence Personnel: As per UPSC rules

6. Assistant Geologist

Master's Degree or Integrated Master's Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Mineral Exploration, Marine Geology or Earth Science.

7. Assistant Geophysicist

Master's Degree/M.Sc./M.Sc. (Tech.)/Integrated M.Sc. in Geophysics, Exploration Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Geo-Exploration, Marine Geophysics, Physics, Applied Physics or other eligible qualifications prescribed in the notification.
